One of the things that I see a lot of people missing out on (even those people who have decided that they’re going to do video) is the follow through. Let’s use a sports analogy to better understand this often fatal mishap.
I’m not super athletic but when people were trying to teach me how to throw a ball or swing a golf stick, what they were telling me was that it’s all about the follow-through. The golf swing doesn’t end once you’ve hit the golf ball. The throw doesn’t stop once the ball has released from your hand. Your tennis racket needs to keep going long after the ball has gone over the net.
Why? This is because it’s often all about the follow through. If you are creating video and you put it on your YouTube channel and you walk away and you say “I’m done”, you’re missing out on so many opportunities to get in front of more people.

It’s About Repurposing Your Video Content
This is a powerful asset. Repurposing your video content means you can speak for 5 to 10 minutes about a topic and have that go everywhere. You can create it with us and we turn it into a blog post. A 10-minute video is going to be about 1,000 words which is long enough for the search engines to pay attention.
But when we do a content strategy like this, it’s human-focused, not robot focused. As a result, the word count doesn’t really matter. What we’re going for is trying to get the person who’s going to come to your site to get a question answered. From there, maybe they want to scroll through your site. Maybe they’re in a meeting or it’s their leisure time and they can’t watch your video.
Or, maybe they just like processing text. There are people who like to learn via video, and there are people who like to read at their own pace and implement things as they go. You can appeal to those people simply by adding the transcript, then reformatting it so that it looks like a blog post with headers, bullet points, and images throughout. That way, it’s not just a wall of text.
Then you’re creating content that can be searched and found while also being able to connect with your audience in a different way. But we don’t stop there.

Kick Things Off With a Content Strategy Session
When you onboard with us, we go through a big content strategy session where we’re talking about who you want to appeal to, where you are, and where you want to be. A lot of times we are setting people up with social media accounts for the first time. It’s okay if you have to start fresh.
In fact, if you start fresh and you start with video, you are so far ahead of if you had started 5 years ago without video. I don’t think that the conversation stops with where you already are. Let’s say we have a conversation and you tell me you’re on these different social media platforms. What I do then is create a schedule that we all know ahead of time to upload your videos to these platforms whether it’s Twitter, LinkedIn, or Instagram.

In your business, it’s not a matter of simply being the person that they want to go to. You need to be the person that they go to when they are having the problem that you solve. So the best way to do that is to schedule your talking points where you can talk about your thing 6 months from now. Because 6 months from now, even though you’ve said it right now, someone might be coming with that problem. They find you on social media because of what we’ve set up in the scheduler to contact you that way.
It’s the kind of content that just keeps on giving. You’re showing your expertise, people are trusting what you say, and it’s not just a one and done situation. It’s not just uploading to YouTube and hoping that you’ve done something right in the YouTube algorithm so that you are coming up in their searches.
This doesn’t leave all that to hope. I mean, we still hope for it. But what we want to do is build this whole comprehensive strategy around your thoughts because you’re building your business around your thoughts and ideas. People need to hear your take.
