What Works in Video: How Videos Shorten the Sales Cycle For This Financial Coach

Turn one video into 27 pieces of content

Download the exact checklist we use to turn one 5-10 minute video into 27 pieces of content.

Kathleen Celmins is the CEO and co-founder of Amplified NOW, a video marketing company that focuses on using video to help content creators get their message out. She sat down with Whitney Hansen, a financial coach and host of the podcast, The Money Nerds.

Whitney helps people go from living paycheck to paycheck to having money in their bank accounts and the confidence to be able to build and manage wealth. She uses video to get her message out and has found it to be a vital tool in helping her find and connect with clients.

When thinking about using video, Whitney found that the content she was remembering and connecting with most from other people was usually in video format. She knew that if she decided to be brave enough to show up on video she would be rewarded.

Whitney loves using new and different platforms like TikTok and Instagram Reels. These are both short-form content platforms, but they pack a big punch. Whitney found that after a few days, a video on IGTV would have about 2,700 views. However, within a week of putting a video on TikTok it would have over 20,000 views and after a month it could have over 80,000 views!

When starting out with TikTok, Whitney didn’t know if it was the right fit for her and her business. Like many people, she worried that it was mostly geared toward a younger demographic and wasn’t sure it would connect her to people who would be interested in learning from her. After a couple of “test videos” got such a high engagement level she realized that it was a great tool to get her message out and have fun doing it.

Kathleen recommends to all her clients that they use TikTok or Instagram Reels because of the reach you can achieve. If you’re already going to the effort of recording and cutting a video you may as well cut it down into a short segment for use on social media platforms.

Video has helped Whitney in her business in many ways, but one of the best things she has found is that it shortens the sales cycle. She has found that someone on her email list or reading her blog could take between six months and a year to decide to start working with her. With video she has discovered that it can be shortened to less than three months!

Here are some ways using video shortens the sales cycle:

  • Video makes it easy to convey tone. Money can be a sensitive subject for some people and sometimes written content can come across as harsh or judgmental. When prospective clients are able to hear Whitney’s passion and feel her warmth they are more comfortable engaging with her.
  • Connections happen faster with video. Whitney has found that when she shows up confidently on video it creates trust and a sense of connection that is harder to find when people aren’t seeing your face and hearing your voice.
  • Video lets you find the right people for your business.  Your business is not going to be right for everyone and creating video content lets your customers or clients quickly decide if you are going to be a good fit for them. Whitney has found that within just a few seconds of watching her videos people know if they identify with her way of communicating and her coaching style. This helps get the right people to her quickly and helps those individuals who don’t connect with her move on instead of wasting time and resources for both parties.
