3 Reasons to Add Video to Your Company’s Content Calendar

By now it should come as no surprise that I think you should add video to your content calendar. I was talking with a friend of mine the other day and she was wondering why I am into video all of the sudden.

For those of you who don’t know me, I’m actually pretty new to video. I’m new to the tools, I have a new camcorder so it only makes sense that people who know me pretty well would wonder why I’m doubling down. In fact, when people tell me they see my videos everywhere, I take it as a huge compliment but I can still understand why you may be on the fence.

When it comes to adding video to your content calendar, there are 3 main reasons why I believe this is important. These are the same reasons why I also commit to being on video all the time.

Video is a Fast Way to Create Content

Trust me, I know how long it takes to write a 2,000 to 2,500-word article. It’s more than 10 to 15 minutes. But in order for me to convey some similar information in video, I can do this in just a few minutes. Sometimes it takes one or two takes or I have to repeat myself. So it’s a little bit longer than what you’re watching. But it’s not the hours or the full day of writing it would require to come up with long-form content.

Now that I’m doing a lot of client work, I don’t have an extra day in my schedule to add more blog content.

Add Video to Your Content Calendar Because It’s Connection That Scales

If you are a service provider or have a product-based business, people always want to know who they’re doing business with. For those service based businesses whether you’re a coach, consultant, or selling your expertise in another way, doing video is a really good way to audition yourself as the expert that you want them to hire.

You’re connecting with people at a level that they’re comfortable with. They’re not ready to book a call yet, but they do want to know what you sound like and how you answer certain questions. Over time, your videos will help you gain trust and if you add a solid call to action at the end of each video, this can make it easy to use video as a marketing tool.

Video Amplifies Your Authority Like Nothing Else Can

A blog post could be written by anybody. But a video of you talking one-on-one with someone on a camera makes your expertise elevated.

Video does this in not quite the same way that having a book published makes you a recognized expert. But it does it in a similar format where you say something brilliant and the way in which you say it matters since you’re the expert.

The people that see you and connect with you are starting to associate you as the go-to authority on your topic. So those are three reasons I am diving into video. Video also creates a number of different assets that you can use and repurpose.

So to summarize, the best reasons for your company to add video to your content calendar are because:

  • It’s easy to create (super easy when you work with us)
  • At least relatively, it’s authority building (you want to communicate your expertise to prospects)
  • It’s connection that scale
